M1 Ch 9 Arcimboldo

A9.1  have to say, Arcimboldo's pictures have always given me the creeps but I had a great time making my own faces.  Shame I took the photos at the wrong angle for the noses (pear and avocado) to stick out.
I like the fennel best, closely followed by the pineapple.  Don't feel the apples and pears really worked because the contrast isn't very marked.  Should have bought Granny Smith's and Empire but I don't really like them!

M1 Ch8 Matisse and Colour

What a challenge!
A8.1  I enjoyed looking at Matisse's work, some of which was familiar, and reading about his life.
A8.2  My first attempt at the background was a horrible mess and far too dominant but I was reasonably happy with the rest, especially the oranges, though the tulips are a perhaps too 'tight'?  So I repainted the background and cut out the other bits and stuck them on.  Unfortunately, the scanner hasn't done the background very well, it actually has a lot more colour, a sort of pale greeny yellow.  No idea what happened, the scanner is usually pretty accurate.

A8.3 Think I did better with this one, I certainly applied lessons learnt from the background in 8.1 so that's a move in the right direction.  Looking at the photo I feel the lemons in the bowl don't show that well against the background.  Looking back at the original they do show up more (the background is more orangey and the lemons have more texture) but the contrast isn't that great, unlike those on the table.

Just an addition of mine, a teacosy ready for an Irish wedding we're off to next week.  The strange couple are a copy of the invite.  The daffs got a bit squashed in the scanner!

E.A  A lovely bit of light relief, I had a great time playing with the colours and have just included a couple of my favourites.

The lemons have all but disappeared here but I love the colours.
